The Voice Studio is the private teaching studio of singer and voice consultant Julia Booth.
Julia teaches a wide variety of clients ranging from pop and commercial recording artists to musical theatre and classical singers. Julia also works with actors, teachers and a range of occupational voice users wanting to refine their skills or who are seeking vocal therapy.
Local clients visit her studio in Hamilton, New Zealand while national and international clients consult online using FaceTime and Skype.
Julia collaborates with colleagues distinguished in their respective fields including internationally renowned Estill Voice Instructors, ENTs (Ear, Nose & Throat specialists), performance physiotherapist Peter Chum, and a Pilates expert Vicky Stuart-Jones. This holistic approach to understanding how the voice functions in relation to the body is presented through a number of events including workshops and courses held throughout the year.
Anyone, beginner to expert, singer or not, is invited to book a private consultation or attend a particular event. You are invited to read further about Julia’s background or contact her directly for further information.
Julia Booth is a classically trained soprano (MMus) who performs regularly throughout New Zealand (www.juliabooth.co.nz). Her love of performance is rivaled only by her passion for empowering people to demystify their voice.
An alumnus of the NZ Opera School, Julia was introduced to the Estill Voice System (EVS) through the work of the school’s senior lecturer Paul Farrington. Julia was fascinated by Jo Estill’s model and since pursued a pathway within EVS. While under the mentorship of Paul Farrington, Julia has studied with some of the world’s leading presenters of the model including Anne-Marie Speed (UK), Kiereen Lock (UK) and Helen Tiller (Australia). She is now a Certified Master Teacher with the Estill Voice Training System, one of only two in New Zealand.
Julia works with performers and occupational voice users from across New Zealand. Outside of her private studio, Julia has been the voice lecturer at WINTEC (School of Media Arts) in Hamilton, NZ and the University of Canterbury (School of Music) and an itinerant singing teacher at St Peter’s School in Cambridge, NZ.
